After the Bruins, the Sens are the team I watch. If the Bruins had a big time goal scorer they would be hard to beat. They have been in like 26 2 to 1 games this year.

I almost feel bad for them.
Side note - these have been some of the best first round games I've seen in ages.

So, the first round is over, and it was a very, very good one. Got 5/8 right on my predictions, but the games were...quite off.
Washington vs. Montreal - Holy. Shit. That's all there is to say, really. Montreal managed to beat the top scoring president's trophy Washington. Halak is truly an amazing goalie.
New Jersey vs. Philadelphia - Philly sure gave NJ a run for their money, and played amazingly. Very surprised they took them out in 5 games, I definitely think that they'll make it to at least the conference finals this year.
Buffalo vs. Boston - No surprise, really. Boston was the dominant team during the season, and they showed it this series. Savard's back in for the semis, so we'll see how good they do.
Pittsburgh vs. Ottawa - Very huge disappointment for me. Game 7 could have gone either way, but I don't think Pittsburgh defeated Ottawa - Ottawa defeated themselves. They blew a 2-0 lead in game 5 in 3rd OT to keep them in, but then blew a 3-0 lead during game 6 to lose. As much as I hate to say it, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Pittsburgh in the finals for a 3rd year in a row.
San Jose vs. Colorado - Apart from Boyle scoring on his own team to lose a game, they didn't choke this round. Anderson was certainly on fire, but not enough to stop SJ's offense. Now it's time to see what SJ can do to the veterans of Detroit.
Chicago vs. Nashville - Nashville was certainly a challenge, but Chicago managed to get passed them. I think the refs were terrible to Chicago throughout the series, but I'm happy they made it through.
Vancouver vs. LA - LA had a pretty nice team this year, but it wasn't enough. Luongo already has a gold medal in the olympics this year, and he's going for the cup.
Detroit vs. Phoenix - Oh man, what a series this was. Phoenix managed to take it to game 7, but Detroit just made it look too easy. Like usual, Detroit is going to have a good run in the playoffs this year.
Round 2 -
Pittsburgh vs. Montreal - Pittsburgh in 6
Boston vs. Philadelphia - Philly in 6
San Jose vs. Detroit - Detroit in 5
Chicago vs. Vancouver - Either team in 6

Haha @ "experts" with their 4-0 Washington sweep.
The Caps are the Eastern conference's Sharks.

But worse. At least SJ managed to make it passed the first round this year around....too bad they won't be making it passed the second.

I is pro gambler with taking New Jersey all the way to the finals. Pro. I guess that's what I get for thinking Brodeur had a last great run in him. (To be fair, it's not like he had goal support or any semblance of team defense around him)
I actually agree completely with all of the Arkantos picks, games and all - I'm taking (and hoping for) Chicago over Vancouver. Luongo is Kane's bitch - doesn't even require any taxis or limos, either.

why pick Philly over Boston? But then again, I might be slightly biased.
Savard is back, I hope he can jump right in and be effective. Go Bruins!

I wish Ottawa had a goalie. I like Elliot and Leclaire, but it'd be nice to have a Luongo or Miller-class goalie here.

Something funny I just saw today on Second City Hockey (lurked there since last year's playoffs, finally joined a couple weeks ago).
Home ice for the Cup series goes to the team with the higher point total, regardless of seeding. So if you were to reseed the playoffs based on points, you get:
1) San Jose - 113
2) Chicago - 112
3) Vancouver - 103
4) Detroit - 102
5) Pittsburgh - 101
6) Boston - 91
7) Philadelphia - 88
8) Montreal - 88
No matter what happens in the rest of the playoffs, the West gets home ice in the finals.

Because I think Philly has the better team, and the better goalie. It can easily go either ways, but I think Philly is going to come out on top.

Elliot was an amazing goalie throughout the entire season, and Leclaire certainly put in 150% in his 2 games. They don't need an overrated goalie (Luongo and Miller are good goalies, but I certainly think they're overrated). They have a lot more to worry about offensively and defensively than their goalie.

Miller is overrated thanks to the Olympics this year. Ya he had a stellar run in the Olympics with Team USA but before that he was not a well known goalie, nor was he or is he a great goalie.

Rask is a good goalie who has the ability to be a great goalie and he is only 23 years old. I pick the Bruins in 6 over Philly. What happened, San Jose won?

Alot can change in two weeks.
Anyone else wanna make any bets that Montreal makes it to the finals and losses like all the other Canadian teams (save for the Laffs) over the past decade or so?

Playoffs like these are part of why I love hockey. One series is 1 vs. 2, one series is 7 vs. 8. Congrats to Philly for coming down from 3-0, both in the series and in Game 7 on the road.
Chicago over San Jose in 7
Montreal over Philadelphia in 6

heh, the other amusing thing about the Boston series was that in the game they were up 3 - 0, before Philly came back to score 4 straight goals and win the game and the series. Talk about insult added to injury.

Okay, so I know I ragged on San Jose earlier in this thread, but they deserved better than a sweep. They played a hell of a series, and Heatley playing with a pulled groin...I had that once and could barely move, can't even imagine skating.
That said, I'm loving seeing Chicago back where they belong.
